Information
As part of Heimtextil, the "Heimtextil University Contest" offers a competition to promote young professionals, who have freshly graduated from a university in a textile and/or design program, to create a platform for the innovators of tomorrow.
Make use of the opportunity to present your graduation work or design project drafts / institution’s academic portfolio to approximately 50,000 trade visitors from around the world and to representatives of the international trade press at Heimtextil, the leading international trade fair for home and contract textiles.
We are looking forward to the creative ideas and concepts of the students—the next generation of the textile industry—which will show new directions and inspire the sustainable future of home textiles and textiles for interiors. To participate in the University Contest, a representative contact (professor or student) must register on our online platform.
The winning universities / students will receive a free all-in stand at Heimtextil 2025. The area will be located in the Textile Design segment in Hall 3.0 near to the Heimtextil Trend Space. With more than 150 exhibitors Heimtextil is the world’s largest platform for textile design.

Application and selection
Registration to participate in the ‘Heimtextil University Contest’ is done online as follows:
The university / student can participate in the ‘Heimtextil University Contest’ by submitting graduation projects or representative design drafts of textile design and related degree programmes online to Messe Frankfurt Exhibition GmbH. The theses submitted for the application must not be older than 6 months.
Please note:
- The online form must be completed separately for each graduation project or representative design draft to be submitted.
- We need a representative contact person (professor or student) that we can get in touch with.
Please note that in order to increase the chances of success, the jury will judge the projects by the following criteria*:
- Is the outcome aesthetically creative/innovative?
- Is it sustainable?
- Is it digitally compatible or supportive?
- Is it projectable/relevant to the good for society?
- Is it future oriented?
- Is it relevant to industry?
Once the application process has been completed, the jury of qualified experts assesses the contest entries submitted online to determine the winners. Where products or processes were developed with the help of a juror, such juror will not be entitled to cast his or her vote for such product or process. The jury’s decisions will be based on simple majority of votes cast and will be final for all participants. The jury will not provide reasons for not selecting individual entries.
The jury provides the results of its assessment to Messe Frankfurt Exhibition GmbH and Messe Frankfurt Exhibition GmbH communicates with the winners prior to Heimtextil 2025.
*Do not get overwhelmed, we do not expect all criteria to be covered in a project, we just mention it for transparency and orientation.
