Persian Kelim
Description
Kilim carpets: In contrast to classic oriental carpets, kilim carpets are woven and not knotted. Especially in Iran, kilims have been used for centuries and not only as carpets. They are also still appreciated in the Orient today as curtains, cushions and wall decorations. However, its thin pile and rustic flair also fit perfectly into a modern furnished apartment. With their down-to-earth flair, they bring a pleasant warmth and homeliness into your home.
Pile made of virgin wool: A carpet made of real virgin wool makes every furnishing style more cozy. The virgin wool itself has a very pleasantly soft feel and also helps to dampen sound and regulate the humidity in the room. Due to these properties, the well-being with a carpet made of real new wool directly increases noticeably.
Cotton warp: Cotton is ideal as a warp (base fabric) for a real hand-knotted carpet, as it is durable and at the same time can be spun finely and closely.
Hand-woven quality: Hand-woven kilims have been part of the culture in oriental countries for centuries. Different procedures are used depending on the region. Afghan kilims, for example, can be used on both sides, while sirjan kilims are embroidered on a base fabric.
