Silk spun yarn (Eri silk) is produced by a unique silkworm called Samia cynthia ricini. Also known as "Peace Silk", the process of obtaining silk spun yarn does not involve killing of pupa.
By cutting one end of the cocoon, pupa leaves its cocoon harmlessly.
The silk worm feeds on cassava (tapioca) leaves, a main agricultural by-product in Thailand. Because of concern over cyanide content in cassava leaves, it is not possible to use them as animal feed and are normally burnt to dispose. We utilize these leaves without waste, contributing to the reduction of CO2 emissions.
Traditionally, silk spun yarns are coarse and uneven and are only limited to handcrafts. With research and innovation at our supplier, a smooth and soft silk spun yarns were created, making it possible for everyday interior fabrics.
Silk spun yarn has excellent textile properties, including odor contorol (particularly for ammonia), UV protection, and lightweight. The porous structure of the yarn brings about these beneficial properties.
It is the softest and warmest among all the silks and possess excellent thermal properties and offers tremendous blending possibilities with other natural fibers like wool, cotton, and linen.
Compared to Mulberry silk, silk spun yarn is better suited for casual looks and is easier to care for.
This time, we developed a fabric with an incredibly soft feel by blending with Lenzing Modal🄬
We created products such as bedding covers, blankets, bathrobes, and pajamas using this fabric.
Please visit our booth at G17 Hall 8 and touch and feel the fabric.
