One of our driving forces is to constantly develop products that optimize sleeping comfort. Because a good night‘s sleep is not a waste of time, but one of the most important building blocks for health, performance and well-being. However, sleeping comfort depends on many things, not the least of which is skin health.
Numerous publications show that the number of people with sensitive skin has increased. Our skin naturally reacts to various environmental influences, cleaning agents, sun, heat, cold, wrong or excessive skin care but also to stress and wrong diet. In addition, more people are allergic to environmental substances than a few years ago.
This so-called atopy tends to have hay fever, neurodermatitis or asthma and sometimes develop sensitive skin as a result.
Another aspect is that we come into much less contact with dirt or animals, especially people in the cities. Children in particular have less contact with dirt and parasites and the excessively clean environment can also promote allergies.
Because the immune system has, to put it very simply, „nothing else to do“ and turns against itself. Too much hygiene damages the protective layer of the skin and the skin‘s self-regulating system no longer works properly. The self-recovery effect and the protective layer of fat and sweat is washed away.
A baby’s skin is also very sensitive. It is significantly thinner, than the skin of adults and reacts to improper skin care with skin inflammation, itching or dermatitis.

The smartcel™ sensitive fiber is an innovative cellulose fiber containing the vital trace element zinc. The probably most influential trace element for our well-being is essential for the immune system, the sensory functions and the metabolism as well as for the regeneration and protection of the skin. The smartcel™ sensitive fiber contains zinc in the form of a high-quality zinc
oxide. This medically approved zinc oxide combines revitalizing effects to protect and regenerate the skin with hygienic and antibacterial properties.
The fiber is manufactured without the use of aggressive chemicals and consists of regenerated raw materials that are environmentally friendly, resource-saving and 100% biodegradable.
The zinc oxide integrated into the smartcel™ sensitive fiber is kind to the skin. These properties have a positive effect on people with sensitive skin or skin diseases such as eczema or neurodermatitis. Clinical studies with home textiles and underwear have proven that smartcel™ sensitive reliefs people with eczema, allergies, neurodermatitis etc.
The smartcel™ sensitive fiber has been positively tested and checked by several independent institutes for its quality and its antibacterial and odor-inhibiting properties. The University of Jena has carried out various tests and confirms the strong
antibacterial effect of smartcel™ sensitive.
Zinc Oxide also protects the skin from harmful UVA and UVB rays, which can damage our skin cells. Depending on the proportion of smartcel™ sensitive fibers used, sun protection UPF 50+ (standard AS/NZS 4339:2017) can be achieved.
In addition to the positive effect on the skin, zinc oxide has antibacterial and odor-reducing properties, which make textiles feel fresher for longer.*
A very important distinguishing feature compared to fabrics with allergy-friendly finishes is that the effect of smartcel™ sensitive is permanent, i.e. even after years of use and after the textiles have been washed.
Since our core competence and also our lifeblood clearly lies in bedding filled with down/feathers, the greatest challenge for us was to develop a down-proof fabric with an effective proportion of smartcel™ sensitive fibers. We have succeeded in this and are the first and only company to have developed various down-proof fabrics with the smartcel™ sensitive fiber and applied for a patent.
Although a fiber content of at least 10% antibacterial and/or antimicrobial fibers offers satisfactory results in terms of effectiveness against microbial, in particular bacterial colonization of the cover, we decided on a 20% share of smartcel™ sensitive fibers.
* However, it should be noted that for the European market, zinc is not listed as a biocide, despite its undisputed natural antibacterial effect and despite the fact that it has
long been an essential component in recognized cosmetic products of all kinds. It is therefore not allowed to be advertised for antibacterial applications in Europe. In contrast,
smartcel™ sensitive is successfully used and advertised in medical and antibacterial products in the US and Asian markets on the basis of the special properties of zinc oxide.
