GoodWeave is a nonprofit working to stop child labor and protect the rights of adult workers in rug and home textile manufacturing supply chains in India and Nepal. For 30 years, GoodWeave has been in the field inspecting and monitoring supply chains, freeing and educating child laborers, and providing essential services to weaving families and communities.
The GoodWeave Label® offers the best assurance that certified products are made free of child, forced, or bonded labor, and that a percentage of the purchase price supports education for children in worker communities.
GoodWeave partners with local organizations to assess community needs and address the root causes of child labor. When exploitation is identified, we provide rehabilitative support, including efforts to reunite children with their families and access to education, giving them the opportunity for a brighter future.
Since its founding in 1994, GoodWeave has restored freedom to 10,868 children, directly provided educational opportunities to 99,526 children, and deterred hundreds of thousands of children from entering labor. In 2024 alone, more than 125,000 workers were protected under the GoodWeave Standard.
The GoodWeave Standard is made up of three certification principles:
- No child labor is allowed.
- No forced or bonded labor is allowed.
- Workplace conditions are documented and verifiable.
