Blackout Drapery Fabric
Description
Dreamtex International – Blackout Fabric Collection
Dreamtex International’s blackout fabrics form the core of our hospitality textile offering—engineered, woven, coated, and inspected to meet the exacting standards of today’s global hotel, cruise, and commercial design markets. Unlike commodity blackout fabrics found in general distribution channels, every Dreamtex blackout is produced exclusively for us, manufactured using formulations, weaving specifications, and coating processes developed in partnership with our mills.
Manufacturing Designed, Controlled, and Overseen by Dreamtex
With dedicated on-the-ground team members and office support in Zhejiang Province, China, Dreamtex oversees every step of production:
- Weaving on dedicated looms set to our proprietary construction standards
- Coating using Dreamtex-specific formulations for opacity, hand-feel, and durability
- Four-pass blackout coating process for complete light elimination
- Inline inspection with calibrated fabric-inspection machines
- Batch-to-batch consistency control monitored by our local teams
No other supplier has access to our exact constructions, coatings, or proprietary formulations.
Our blackouts are truly unique to Dreamtex International.
Four-Pass Blackout Coating – Complete Light Blockage, Zero Pinholes
A defining feature of Dreamtex blackout fabrics is our four-pass coating process, applied during production to ensure absolute light control.
Most blackout fabrics in the market use two or three passes of coating—enough for general shading but often prone to:
- Pinholes
- Uneven opacity
- Visible light leakage under direct sunlight
Dreamtex’s standard manufacturing process uses four separate coating passes. The result is a blackout fabric that delivers:
- Zero pinholes
- Zero visible light transmission—even under intense daylight
- Superior consistency across the entire width and roll
- A smoother, more stable drape for fabrication
This four-pass method is one of the key reasons Dreamtex blackouts outperform standard hospitality blackout fabrics and provide reliable light control for guestrooms, suites, theaters, and cruise ship cabins.
PFAS-Free for Modern Hospitality Requirements
All Dreamtex blackout fabrics are 100% PFAS-free, ensuring compliance with evolving U.S. and EU environmental standards. PFAS (Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances) have historically been used in textiles for stain and water resistance but are now restricted globally due to safety and environmental concerns.
Our PFAS-free approach delivers a safer, more environmentally responsible product without compromising durability, opacity, or performance.
Prepared for Digital Printing (PFDP) – Proprietary Dreamtex Primer
Each blackout fabric is produced in a PFDP (Prepared For Digital Printing) variant using a proprietary Dreamtex print primer integrated directly into the coating process. This specialized primer:
- Enhances ink adhesion
- Prevents edge bleeding
- Improves clarity in fine lines and gradients
- Produces deeper, more saturated color
- Ensures consistency across full production runs
Dreamtex is one of the only suppliers offering a hospitality-grade blackout fabric engineered from the ground up for digital printing—not post-treated or coated after weaving.
Four Signature Base Weaves
The Dreamtex blackout collection is built on four foundational weave structures, each crafted to offer its own texture, weight, and visual character:
1. Georgie
A robust, heavier weave offering exceptional blackout performance and luxurious body—ideal for premium properties and demanding environments.
2. Ava
A more expressive woven character that provides structure and visual interest while remaining fabrication-friendly.
3. Rose
A soft, subtly textured weave that adds quiet dimension while maintaining a clean, modern presentation.
4. Venus
A refined, smooth weave with a premium hand-feel—versatile, balanced, and suitable for modern and transitional interiors.
Performance That Meets the Demands of Hospitality
Dreamtex blackout fabrics are engineered for:
- Complete room darkening with zero pinholes
- High tensile and tear strength
- Smooth fabrication on industrial workroom equipment
- Consistent dye lots and controlled coloration
- Resistance to fraying and edge distortion
- Long-term dimensional stability
These performance characteristics ensure reliability for both individual installations and large-scale global hospitality programs.
NFPA 701 & IMO Fire Certification — A Key Dreamtex Advantage
