The latest product from ADVANSA's sustainable Eco OriginTM programme: DACRON® Re-Comfort, a 100% recycled fibre made from 80% flakes from recycled plastic bottles and 20% pre-consumer textile waste, such as fabric pieces, used fibres and garment industry cuttings.

Recycling polyester from textiles has additional technical requirements and ADVANSA is starting to use recycled textiles as a valuable raw material for polyester fibre production with this new fibre.

According to a study, 99% of recycled polyester is made from bottle flakes. Bottle-to-fibre recycling has significant sustainability benefits and can be considered as state of the art (ADVANSA's LCA study shows 80% reduction in carbon footprint). At the same time, Textile Exchange calls on the textile industry to increase the share of recycled polyester from 14 percent to 45 percent by 2025.
