Food Textile, Japan

According to Food Textile, in Japan, where the company is based, roughly 28 million tons of food are thrown out every year – and food waste is, of course, a global issue. Working in partnership with major food companies, both Japanese and international, the company takes waste such as surplus blueberries, red cabbage, coffee and matcha tea, and uses a unique patented process to produce natural, colour-fast textile dyes. Food Textile offers around 50 different shades, used on varied products including bags and homewares, as well as clothing.
