Colorifix’s mission is to engineer natural solutions to solve man-made problems. It’s currently the only company to use a biological process to produce, deposit and fix pigments onto textiles. Colorifix uses DNA sequencing to identify the codes that make up pigments originally created naturally, by an animal, plant or microbe. This information is used to create laboratory-engineered microorganisms. The microorganisms are used to ‘grow’ the colour via a fermentation process. Colorific’s extensive range of colours reach the industry standards that some eco-friendly dyes cannot achieve. The biological process uses no toxic chemicals and about 10% of the water required for standard dyeing processes.
