Tarkett’s ReStart take-back and recycling programme diverts post-installation and used flooring away from landfill and incineration, giving it a second life as beautiful new flooring materials. The scheme encompasses Tarkett’s complete product range – and even materials from its competitors. Tarkett’s collaborative approach can be seen in its pioneering partnership with Aquafil, as together they are closing the loop on commercial carpet tiles. Ground-breaking technology separates the two principal components of carpet tiles, yarn and backing, while retaining more than 95% yarn purity. Both top and base layers are infinitely recyclable without loss of quality. Tarkett also partners with water companies in the Netherlands to recover chalk residues from the water treatment process to use in its carpet backing.
