Flocus pioneers the use of fibres from the seed pods of the tropical kapok tree in textile manufacture. Its approach works towards sustainable consumption and production, helping preserve and regenerate land, and developing economic prosperity for local communities. Kapok trees thrive on poor soil and rugged land unsuitable for agriculture, require no irrigation or chemical intervention, and fertilise the earth around them. They also lock up carbon and increase oxygen in the atmosphere, making them climate-positive. Flocus’s kapok-based products include 100% sustainable, vegan textiles, super-lightweight insulation materials, blendable yarns and stuffing materials. All are entirely recyclable or biodegradable once their first purpose has been met.
