Ananas Anam is the company behind Piñatex®, a flexible and durable non-woven textile. Piñatex is derived from fibres extracted from pineapple leaves, which are usually discarded or burned after the fruit harvest. Piñatex’s leather-like qualities make the material a popular alternative for the fashion industry and it is used by more than 1,500 brands worldwide. Earlier this year, the company launched its newest collection, Piñatex Performance. The range offers enhanced mechanical capabilities, such as greater abrasion resistance and water repellence. With its flat and smooth surface, it is ideal for use in upholstery and furnishings. The company aims to be carbon neutral by 2025.
