 Competence Square
"Competence Square" in Hall 4.0 is devoted entirely to the theme of upholstery fabrics. Under the slogan "Creativity meets Technology" textile materials vie with additional 'smart' options for space in this special zone. Meanwhile, excellent design and top quality are an al-most self-evident must. However, special applications, which use, for example, fabrics with microbe, electrosmog and stain resistant prop-erties, or metallised fabrics with climate-control effects, can only be developed using such technologies. The section of the exhibition called 'Smart' from Material Connexion Cologne's material library completes the picture for this area. With 'Upholstery', Trevira CS pre-sents a library of upholstery fabrics, developed with customers for the contract sector. Furthermore, 'Competence Square' is also presenting the competition entries from students, submitted for the 'Young Contract Creations Award: Upholstery' as projects for textile-based seating in the con-tract sector. Heimtextil 2008 will present the award for the first time together with the trade magazine Polsterfashion and the fibre manu-facturer Trevira CS. In addition, the French testing institute IFTH (l’Institut Français de l'habillement et du textile) will deliver an insight into the essential procedures for the testing of upholstery fabrics. |
