At Home and Away

file
  • A mixing and melting of international cultures with an optimistic, colourful vigour. This brings back the art of celebrating and of breaking all the rules. The carefree spirit of countries encompassed by the sea, full of sunshine and fun, is expressed in this topic evoking a colourful and cheeky holiday snap. The people of a global village with their century-old traditions and knowledge passed on from generation to generation, can also teach us how to celebrate, to dance and to feel the pure joy of life.
  • Colours: Colours of the tropics. Liana brown, dark forest colours such as ebony and the beige of plaited straw with a bold twinkling, almost a flash of sunny yellow, bright orange and true ocean blue or lagoon green.
  • Fabrics: Natural fabrics such as cotton and silk, plant fibres such as raffia and sisal, plaited or woven, teamed up with brilliant, rustling wild silk placing the spotlight on bright colours. Graphic and even eccentric print motifs on striking weaves.
  • Details: On the one hand glossy, wet-look coatings, and on the other, folkloristic influences with fringes and ribbons.

Chic and Countryside

file
  • A celebration of nature, the return to our roots, our regional cultures, for they are the sources of our strength and well-being.
  • The pure poetry of a sunlit ambience, where craftsmanship and skill meet freshness and tenderness. A touch of romantic country living which inspired the Sunday painters of another time. The image of a siesta and the reflections in the water for a celebration of nature, which give us back our strength and serenity.
  • Colours: Impressions of sun-bleached canvas, overdyed in straw yellow, olive green, viola and a delicate range of hues such as apricot, blue-green and pale yellow.
  • Fabrics: A combination of rugged materials such as hessian or hemp toile with transparent voile and half-linen. Soft colour prints on cambric and cotton voile and stencil prints. Also flowers celebrate nature and its joys: small flowers, in liberty prints, and large blossoms in allover prints.
  • Details: Nostalgic details such as hem stitches, Ventian lace and embroidery.

Natural and Artificial

file
  • Technological progress but combined with the ethic of eco-awareness.
  • Mankind must respect nature and learn how to use it sensibly without destroying it. This is one of the lessons we have learned in the past few years. Here we find this topic associated with high-tech and future sciences. Two ethics combine to achieve one goal: a new lifestyle, practical and intelligent, a view into the future with awareness of ecological issues. A modern, functional ambience of an authentic and rugged quality, enriched by a new know-how which provides striking fabrics and colours.
  • Colours: The first part of the colour range is inspired by nature, with linen and ivory hues and shades of greyish beige. The second part adds synthetical colours such as neon yellow, fluorescent orange and test tube turquoise.
  • Fabrics: The force of 100% natural fabrics such as unbleached cotton, unbleached linen, wool with a flat finish, for a “clear” look combined with technological fabrics such as microfibers, Lycra knits, fibreglass, nylon and polyamide, in colours verging on the aggressive.
  • Details: Most important for this topic are the finishes, intelligent surface treatment (anti-bacterial, thermodynamic, anti-stress) finishes with burnt borders, rubber coated, soaked but also combinations of the natural and artificial such as in plastic lamella on linen.

Realism and Surrealism

file
  • A masculine and a feminine aspect: a contradiction present in all of us. By playing with this duality, we can find a new balance. A universe both full of pride and self-asssurance, compelling us to think along neo-classical lines, but at the same time poetic and sensitive, with a tendency towards the surrealism of the 1940s. Contrasts and associations, ranging from the rigid to the literary, the contrived to the unleashed, define a new balance.
  • Coulours: A feminine range of colours based on plaster white, accentuated by raspberry pink. A masculine colour range with accents such as claret, to be teamed up with gold, silver and jet black.
  • Fabrics: Precious materials such as velvet, leather and silk, combined with transparent fabrics and cotton voile. Suede and suede-inspired looks play a major role. Prints featuring arabesques, neo-classical motifs, masculine stripes, engraved motifs in black and white, calligraphy and spirals for a more lyrical effect.
  • Details: Couture-inspired style, buttons, lacing, piping, elaborate draping, sophisticated and intricate finishing for a “polished” look.
