Design multi-functional seating for the contract sector was the task and 60 young designers from European universities submitted their ideas. A jury of experts selected the best 25 projects, which Heimtextil visitors could see in a special show at the fair.
Then, during the Contract Creations Evening, Heimtextil Director Ulrike Wechsung, presented the Award and two recognition awards.
The winner was ‘Ygo’ by Václav Mlynár of the of , Architecture and Design in Prague. As Ulrike Wechsung said, “The design skilfully combined functionality and design.” At the same time, ‘Ygo’ is distinguished by top material quality, can easily be produced in large numbers and, moreover, is suitable for use in a variety of applications.
A recognition award went to Renate Dworschak of the University for Applied Art in for her ‘ben.t/w’, a piece of wooden furniture covered with fabric that can be used as a bench and table.
Jani Jönsson of Turku University of Applied Sciences in also received a recognition award for his ‘Kaidas’, an oval piece of furniture that can be used for both sitting and reclining.
