Young Contract Creations Award Upholstery

In 2012 Heimtextil, the International Trade Fair for Home and Contract Textiles, will organize theYoung Contract Creations Award: Upholstery; powered by Polsterfashion and Trevira CS for the fifth time.
In cooperation with our partners Trevira GmbH and the publishing house Verlag M. Ritthammer GmbH, the contest will revolve around the design and functionality of seating furniture for the contract sector.
Under the title “Relax”, Heimtextil 2012 will focus on the design of furniture that invites one to sit or recline on it and that has at least one additional function, for instance, integrated storage for notebooks or a fold-out table. Sitting and reclining positions must be deduced from the furniture’s form alone, without the aid of manual or electronic devices. The piece of furniture must be suitable for use in public areas such as hotels (reception areas, lounges or conference or meeting rooms) as well as in all other facilities for lodging (sanatoriums, assisted living, etc.) and public institutions. The use of the item in private rooms, such as living rooms or bedrooms, must also be feasible.
This award – at the interface of interior architecture, product and textile design and function-oriented challenges – is presented for outstanding achievement by students aiming at a master's degree or majoring in the respective fields, to exam candidates and graduates. The aim is to develop innovative approaches and solutions with concrete implementation potential. Talented young people will be promoted: they will have the opportunity to present their designs to a broad audience at Heimtextil and, thus, make those first contacts necessary for a great start to their careers.
