Foyer, 5.1/6.1
A meeting point for providers of innovative product solutions has been created in cooperation with the architectural magazine AIT: it offers diverse expert speeches, podium discussions, architectural tours and price awards under the contract creations umbrella.
Programme Overview
Let's talk about...
...Sustainability from a home textile perspective
Sustainability and Ethics
Sustainability and ethics are becoming increasingly important topics. For many companies, using ecologically sustainable materials and basing their production on ethically sound standards is a matter of course. Independent NGOs, associations and companies provide an overview of available sustainable materials and their characteristics. In addition, they explain the features of a transparent supply chain and how society's awareness is influenced by consumer behaviour.
AIT-Trendscouting
For the third time, approximately 25 AIT Trend Scouts representing the architecture and interior designer professions have identified the latest industry trends. Results will be presented beginning the second day of the trade fair at the stand of the Innovation Prize "Architecture Textile Object".
Let's talk about...
...Green Hospitality –The Balance between Ecology and Economy
On the occasion of Heimtextil 2012, the German Hotel Association (IHA) again will address the issue of sustainability in the hotel industry and will offer practical tips and suggestions. Renowned speakers will inform the audience about the balance between ecology and economy in the hotel business.
All lectures will be translated simultaneously into English.
… „Future Hotel" by AIT
Ready-made hotels, budget hotels or serviced apartments concepts - the hotel sector brims with ideas and concepts for creative lifestyles. At the same time, the desire for expansion of chain hotels seems unstoppable. The benefit: in Germany we can enjoy international hotel brands such as Jumeirah in Frankfurt or Waldorf Astoria in Berlin. The disadvantage: privately-owned hotels are under enourmous pressure. New ideas wanted!
The International Hotel Application Award will honour the best hotel concept developed in Europe. In addition, the speech series titled "Future Hotel" will enlighten participants about future-oriented hotel projects through presentations and discussions.
All lectures will be translated simultaneously into English.
Programme on Thursday
Let's talk about...
..."Luxury - New Luxury in Architecture and Interior Design" by AIT
An expensive watch, a trendy car, holidays on the Maldives – things that are beautiful but not vitally important; things that exceed what is common or what is deemed to be necessary or sensible by a society (Wikipedia) – or simply put, luxury.
How can luxury be defined from an architectural perspective? What does luxury mean in the building of offices, hotels or stores? Is sustainability considered luxury?
One glance at yellow press magazines and the VIP world makes it clear: it is not only Russian oligarchs who treat themselves to homes priced at ten million euros. At Europe’s most beautiful locations, dreamlike estates with state-of-the-art furniture are developed for the affluent representatives of “old money” as well. The problem facing the suppliers of the relevant products: most of these home owners do not care for publicity, which means the architects and interior designers who plan such projects regularly are tight-lipped and unknown.
The product segment of Messe Heimtextil exhibitors is part of this exact spectrum of themes. In order to provide them with a point of contact within the AIT area, “Luxury – New Luxury in Architecture and Interior Design” will be represented at the trade fair in the form of an exhibition and a series of speeches. However, the Forum is not only about the luxury-living segment; the term luxury will be discussed across disciplines by architects, interior and other designers, philosophers and filmmakers.
All lectures will be translated simultaneously into English.
